Survivor Jane - Emergency/Survival Hygiene: A Prepper Cookbook for Making Survival Hygiene Products
![frontcovereshrevised[1]](https://pioneerpreparedness.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/frontcovereshrevised1.jpg?w=196)
I instantly realized that this book is not just for the preparedness minded. It is a wonderful resource for females of all ages, especially those who have concerns about the ‘stuff’ put in our everyday lotions and potions. I would also recommend this book for men; there are several sections that would be useful for the ‘guys’ in our lives. [Not just for their own personal use, but as an insight into things that they might have to deal with for the ladies involved in their preparedness plans].

In the mood for Quinoa
I was in the mood for some quinoa, so I made some Quinoa with Peas and Carrots.
Yum!
I used this base recipe here
I did do a little improvising though. I used a Lipton's single serve chicken noodle pack, instead of chicken bouillon. I just strained the contents through a fine handheld colander, for my liquid and use this to cook with. It gave me the chicken flavor I wanted, without using a complete cube or opening a pantry can sized chicken boullion for 1 meal.
I added the Thrive Dehydrated Carrots and Thrive Freeze Dried Onions, Thrive Freeze Dried Spinach and WOW! I got 3 meals from 1 cup of quinoa and some vegetables spinkled in, Not bad for 2 minutes of prep and 15 minutes of cooking time.

Chili wound up being today's batch cooking project. It took me all of 15 minutes to cook and then into the crock pot. OH, how I LOVE my 'Thriving' life! Freeze dried onions, green chili peppers and celery. No muss, no fuss and best of all no onion tears. Double batch = Dinner tonight and several other meals of chili and nachos, ready to pop in the freezer for another day.
I don't know about you all but I am OVER Winter!
The ice storm we had in mid-February had us landlocked for 8 days (frozen driveway.) Thank goodness Ken had pulled a vehicle down to the neighbors so I could get back and forth to work. Hey, just one more thing to 'Prepare' for!
Now I am anxiously awaiting Spring and planning our garden.
I think I am going to try and play around with some Hay Bale/Straw Gardening and have been doing a lot of research on that. I will post more on my findings.
